GCA defeated sister schools Legion Collegiate Academy and Oceanside Collegiate Academy Saturday at Blowfish Stadium. The War Eagles started the day with a thrilling 5-4 victory over Legion in ten innings. Brent Stukes threw 7 innings giving up 4 runs, and Peyton Starkey shut down the Lancers in the final three innings. Callen Begley had the game tying single in the sixth inning for the War Eagles. He and Warren Wasden led the team with two hits a piece. In the 10th inning the War Eagles had a hit batter and drew three walks including one to Savion Smith to give GCA the win. The second game of the day was not as close with the War Eagles taking down Oceanside 12-2 in five innings. Dom McIntosh pitched a complete game only giving up two runs while striking out five batters. Mason Turner led the way at the plate with two homeruns and four RBIs. Stukes, Starkey, Jones, and Begley each chipped in two hits as the War Eagles racked up 12 hits in the game.
The wins move the War Eagles to 14-4 on the season. They return to action this week with region matchups against Saluda on Tuesday and Friday.
