The GCA boy’s basketball team brought home the Rossington’s Law Firm Thanksgiving Classic over the break. The tournament was hosted by Stall High School. The War Eagles defeated Hanahan 80-26 in the first round.  Tauris Watson led a balanced War Eagle attack with 21 point while Brandon Gardner, Chris Rhone, and Zaire Rogers all scored in double figures. GCA then went on to take down Porter Gaud 70-42. Latavian Lawrence scored 18 points. Chase Mcduffie and Tauris Watson added 12 and 10 points respectively. GCA then went on to take down Pinewood Prep in the championship game by a final score of 95-53. Tauris Watson and Latavian Lawrence were named Co-MVPs of the tournament. Chase McDuffie also made the All Tournament Team.

The Lady War Eagles also competed over the break. GCA defeated Low Country Prep 44-32. Freshman Aaliyah Lawrence lead the way with 18 points and 18 rebounds while freshman Zaniyah Huggins added 12. The War Eagles then lost a close one to St James 23-19 in OT. Aaliyah Lawrence was the leading scorer with 8 points.

The War Eagles begin regular season action this week. The boys take on PAC on Thursday December 5. The JV begins at 5 with the varsity playing at 6:30. The games will be held at Gray Collegiate. The Varsity Girls play at Lakewood Thursday December 5 at 6:30. They will then take on North Augusta in the Dorman Invitational starting on December 6 at 8:00.
