GCA will continue its run in the 2A state baseball playoffs after winning the District Championship over Latta Monday night. The War Eagles needed to win one of two games on the day to advance. Latta took game one 14-2 in five innings to force a game two. The War Eagles were up to the test in game two with their backs against the wall winning 11-6. Wyatt Keisler got the win throwing six and two thirds innings only giving up two runs. The only thing that took him out of the game was pitch count limits. After the first inning the bats got hot for the War Eagles. Seven players ended the night with a hit and five had at least two hits. Matt Willis and Keisler led the way with 5 combined hits and 6 total RBIs.
GCA will now advance to the Lower State Championship beginning on Thursday. The War Eagles will host East Clarendon with the first pitch set for 7:45 at Midlands Sports Complex. The other two teams competing in the double elimination bracket are Oceanside Collegiate Academy and Hannah Pamplico.
