Boys Varsity Football · War Eagles Win First Region Title in Football


GCA wrapped up the region championship last night with their win over Eau Claire. It is the first region championship in school history. The victory locks up a one seed and home field advantage for the playoffs.

The War Eagles jumped out to a 35-0 lead by halftime, creating a running clock for the rest of the game. Eau Claire had a late score to make the final 35-6. Julian Jackson had five carries for 76 yards and three scores. KZ Adams added 97 yards rushing and a score. Hunter Helms threw for 211 yards and had a 20 yard scoring strike to NyKeem Smith. Josh Doctor lead the way receiving with six catches for 121 yards.

The War Eagle defense was lead by Dominiq Barksdale with 13 tackles and one tackle for loss. Brendon Evans-Grayson added 10 tackles and one tackle for loss in the game. Emmanuel Harley led the secondary with two pass breakups and an interception.

The War Eagles finish off the regular season next Friday, October 26th against C.A. Johnson at Richland One Stadium.
